Frequently Asked Questions
-
We specialize in "transition spaces"—the high-traffic areas that define your daily flow. Our primary services include:
Mudrooms & Entryways: Drop zones and custom benches.
Home Offices: Built-in desks, libraries, and shelving.
Kitchen & Dining Support: Butler’s pantries, sculleries, and coffee bars.
Storage & Organization: Laundry rooms, playrooms, and custom closets.
Entertainment: Media walls and custom wine rooms.
-
Semi-Custom: These are pre-manufactured in standard sizes (usually in 3-inch increments) with limited modifications. You often have to use "fillers" (strips of wood) to close gaps between the cabinet and your wall.
Case & Cove Custom: We build to the exact 1/8th of an inch. There are no "stock sizes." If your wall is 103.4 inches wide, your cabinet is 103.4 inches wide. This creates a "flush-mount" look where the cabinetry appears to be part of the home’s original architecture, not something added later.
-
Absolutely. We often collaborate with design professionals to ensure our millwork matches the existing architectural DNA of the home, including exact paint-color matching and custom-milled crown molding.
-
Every component is hand-crafted in our local shop in Wilmington, NC. We combine digital precision with traditional hand-finished joinery to create furniture-grade cabinetry.
-
We respect your home as a sanctuary. During installation, we utilize M-Class HEPA dust extraction and heavy-duty floor protection to ensure that the only sign of our presence is your beautiful new cabinetry.
-
You will work directly with our owner from the initial consultation through the final white-glove installation. This ensures a single point of accountability and that your creative vision is never lost in translation.
-
Project costs vary based on size and material choices. Most of our custom built-in projects fall within the $5,000 to $20,000+ range. We offer an initial consultation to help align your goals with a realistic budget.
-
While timelines vary by scope, our four-step process (Measure, Visualize, Craft, Install) is designed for efficiency. We can typically provide a clear project schedule once the "Digital Twin" design is approved.
-
Yes! That is the primary benefit of our design phase. During the "Visualize" step, we can adjust shelf heights, cabinet depths, and finishes in the virtual model. We don't start the "Craft" phase until you have virtually walked through the space and approved every detail.
-
Because we use the Digital Twin process to pre-fit everything in our shop, our on-site time is significantly reduced. Most built-in projects (like a mudroom or home office) are installed in 1 to 3 days, minimizing the disruption to your daily life.
-
The best way to begin is by requesting a consultation through our website. We’ll ask about your primary space focus, goals (like maximizing storage or elevating aesthetics), and your preferred project timeline.
-
We provide furniture-grade finishes that are much more durable than standard wall paint. We offer:
Factory-Grade Paint: We use high-solids, acid-catalyzed conversion varnishes or waterborne alkyd urethanes that resist chipping, moisture, and household chemicals.
Custom Color Matching: We can match any color from major brands like Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore to ensure your built-ins integrate perfectly with your home's "DNA."
Stains & Glazes: For those who want to see the wood grain, we offer hand-wiped stains and glazes that highlight the natural character of the timber.
-
To ensure a flawless, dust-free finish, we do the majority of our painting and staining in our controlled local shop environment. This prevents paint fumes and overspray in your home and results in a smoother, "hardened" finish that on-site painting simply cannot match.
-
Yes. We stand behind our craftsmanship with a Limited Lifetime Warranty on the cabinet box construction and a multi-year warranty on the finish and hardware (hinges and drawer slides). We build our cabinetry to be "heirloom quality," meaning it’s designed to last as long as the home itself.
-
Since you work directly with the owner, you have a single point of accountability. If you ever experience a hardware failure or need an adjustment after the wood has "settled" into your home’s climate, we are just a phone call away in Wilmington to come out and make it right.
-
Generally, a damp microfiber cloth is all you need. Because our finishes are non-porous and chemically cured, they are highly resistant to staining and don't require the frequent waxing or polishing that cheaper furniture might need.
