Lighting as Architecture: The Final Layer of Custom Millwork
Transforming Storage into a Gallery with Integrated Systems.
Lighting should never be an afterthought; it should be integrated into the very blueprints of your cabinetry. In the luxury market, the difference between a "shelf" and a "display" is how it is illuminated. When lighting is tacked on later, wires are visible and the "glow" is uneven. When Case & Cove designs a piece, the lighting is engineered into the structure.
The Three Layers of Millwork Lighting
To achieve a high-end look, we utilize a "layered" approach to light within our built-ins:
Task Lighting: Focused, bright light in areas like sculleries or home offices to ensure functionality.
Accent Lighting: Recessed LED channels that highlight specific objects, like a rare book collection or fine china.
Ambient "Cove" Lighting: Soft light that bounces off the ceiling or back panel to create a warm, inviting glow for the entire room.
Technical Integration
Because we build a Digital Twin of your space, we coordinate with your electrician before we ever arrive. We "channel out" the cabinetry in our shop to hide every wire, driver, and sensor.
Invisible Sensors: No more fumbling for switches. We integrate "door-trigger" sensors so your pantry or wardrobe illuminates the moment you open it.
Color Temperature Control: We typically specify 2700K to 3000K LEDs to ensure the light feels "warm" and matches the rest of your home’s high-end fixtures.
Flush-Mount Channels: Our LED strips sit in recessed aluminum channels with "opal" diffusers, meaning you see the light, but never the individual "dots" of the LED bulbs.
Elevating the Mood
Integrated lighting turns your cabinetry into a piece of art at night. It adds depth to the room and creates a sense of luxury that "overhead" lights simply cannot replicate.
